Biography [ ]

Advent [ ]

Oro is an ancient hermit who has sparse black hair, gold skin, crimson eyes that glow low-cal blue during boxing and is barefoot. His only prominent article of clothing is a large single torn red tarp-like fabric, belted with a rope and appears to exist like a kesaya or chiton similar robe draped over his left shoulder and tied at a knot. A magic spell binds one of his arms and he ordinarily fights 1-handed, but he can dispel its effects and pull out the other arm at any time. Standing at five'3" (161 cm), Oro is the shortest playable male character in the Street Fighter serial.

In Street Fighter V, Oro's outfit is purple and the robe has a single long sleeve to testify his right mitt.

His offset alternate costume in Street Fighter 5 has him wearing a modern outfit consisting of a heaven blue cloud printed-theme brusque-sleeved push button shirt with white crane designs, white shorts and white sandals with brown straps. He too has sunglasses with a cherry-red trim that sticks out the collar of his shirt. The outfit is reminiscent of Dragon Ball's Master Roshi, an eccentric elderly hermit with a weakness for young women associated with turtles, like to Oro. This push shirt was given to him by Rose equally a little souvenir following their sparring lucifer.

His 2nd alternate costume is that of a Japanese warlock consist of grayness furred Japanese belong being tied in a yellowish belt sash, with a blue gray short sleeved kimono shirt that reaches below the human knee, he as well wore both handwraps and footwraps and a geta with open up straps.

Oro is revealed to accept a white fundoshi beneath his outfits whenever he stands up and prepare to fight.

Personality [ ]

Unusual for a hermit (and the oldest known graphic symbol in the series, perchance with the exception of Necalli, existence over 130 years sometime[2]), Oro has a coincidental and eased disposition with a lighthearted wile and whimsy. He besides possesses a witty insight and a humbling sense of humor and wisdom. His hobbies include touring and leading people through the Amazon, and he enjoys the company of his pets.

Oro'south quotes in SFIII hint that in his younger days, he was once a devoted and spirited warrior like Ryu, with the pride of a champion alike to Dudley, though his pride also seemed to have got him into trouble, and may be responsible for him condign a hermit. Oro is also considerably small-scale, just considering himself a novice of his mode.

Oro is not without a sense of justice or a need to humble those extremely proud and boastful of their talents, such as Urien. In addition, in his chat earlier his duel with Akuma, Oro was visibly concerned as to how a violent; disturbingly aggressive individual expressed themselves as the "main of the fist", and was eager to bear witness him how truly distant the path to mastery really was. All the same, he considers himself beyond the labels of good and evil, and believes that the next generation should be the one to have activity against beings of great power.

Due to his amazing abilities, Oro naturally enjoys fighting confronting strong opponents, and finds those lacking exceptional aptitude and refinement deadening, though he too does enjoy the simpler comforts of life, and often searches for means to laissez passer the time.

Oro has also a minor weakness for women. When Ibuki fights him as a test to pass her schoolhouse graduation examination, Oro was disappointed at first because he thought she was asking him for a date. Truthfully, Oro's platonic adult female is one with an older and mature disposition,[3] and shows an infatuation with Rose. He even suggests that had he met Poison in his youth, he would have never become a hermit.

Concept [ ]

Oro's initial concept was inspired by Hélio Gracie, the founder of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, who passed away in 2009 at the age of 95; Gracie famously received a broken arm during one of his few losses, but refused to tap out. [citation needed] His facial features and hermit nature may also exist inspired by the late Japanese American actor John Fujioka, who frequently portrayed ninja grandmasters and Majestic Japanese holdout soldiers in his acting career, while his martial arts sorcerer moniker is also believed to exist inspired by the late Japanese American thespian Mako, who while famous amongst many roles, is known for portraying the wizard Akiro in the Conan the Barbarian fantasy motion-picture show series.

His minor stature and origins from the Meiji Restoration also is evocative of Sokaku Takeda, one of the few "final samurai" within turn of the century modernizing Nihon who taught and spread cognition of his martial art of Daito Aiki Jujutsu to willing practitioners throughout the more socially open nation, and was the instructor of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido who based the art on his teachings.

His backstory of attaining keen power and enlightenment through ascetic ways and wearing a reddish robe is evocative of the arhat monk Bodhidharma, the founder of Chan and Zen Buddhism, the patron saint of the Shaolin Monastery, and sagacious effigy of steadfastness and patience for samurai. Forth with being the founder of the martial arts of the Shaolin Temple, Bodhidharma was also said to have attained immortality through having discovered the secrets of the ways of xian through his journeys in China, and was reported in legends existence seen leaving for home after his presumed death and burying. Alternately, his trait of using only one arm and being a novice of his style may also draw upon Shen Guang or Hui Ke, Bodhidharma'south apprentice who was one time a warrior who turned to spiritual enlightenment at realization of his actions, and had cutting off his arm to show devotion to his teachings during Bodhidharma's famed time of meditation at the Shaolin Monastery.

Later data from the Shadaloo Gainsay Enquiry Institute divulges that Oro is a descendant from a ninja clan; this may be in reference to the legendary effigy Xu Fu, the Chinese alchemist and explorer who was sent past emperor Qin Shi Huang to find the famed elixir of immortality on the mythical island of Penglai/Horai. Upon his 2d voyage that saw him and his crew to never return to Red china, Xu Fu was believed to have made it to Japan, and assumed some other identity as Oiro Tayuya, who is said in Iga Association texts to exist a founder of ninjutsu by incorporating military tactics and his own agreement of Xian Sh'en/Senjutsu. Alternately, the thought of ninjas residing in Brazil is spurred past the real life immigration of Japanese citizens into Brazil upon 1908, where a more cosmopolitan and open Japanese nation upon the Meiji Restoration allowed its citizens greater freedom to larn all trades and cognition within the world for the sake of its citizens to shape the nation by their rights within the Meiji Constitution and its laws.

Before he can elaborate further, Oro remarks that the curry should exist ready, and ends the word. Though Dhalsim wishes to learn more, Oro insists that younger people like him should discover it for themselves.

Sometime in the evening, Oro makes a visit to Dhalsim's dwelling house for a friendly conversation and dinner.[5] Pondering with the Yoga master of the meaning of power and such power wielded in the globe of martial arts and street fighting, he begins past loosening Dhalsim'due south solemn zeal and steadfast devotion. Displaying to him examples of ki and the Satsui no Hado,[five] the sennin theorizes and discusses with Dhalsim of how such powers, despite boundaries and origins of manifestation, share an origin and shared source, and how despite even as malevolent the Satsui no Hado and Psycho Power brand themselves to be, ultimately share a neutral ground and capability for good in their own way every bit much as all concepts of power.[11] Making annotation that such boundaries are equally interchangeable as the seas and the skies and fish and birds capable of entering both domains, yet every bit circuitous as a Calabi-Yau structure and that the misuse of labeling evil tends to empower its own force with ignorance, Oro leaves Dhalsim with the wise lesson that knowledge of such power should be used for skilful when evil intends to abuse it.[11]

Street Fighter 3 games [ ]

Oro decides to participate in the Globe Warrior Tournament to further scout for potential candidates, just he also comes across rumors that speak of a secret society which has said to be responsible ad infinitum for all of club'due south current state since regarding the result and its relation to the tournament. Happy to know that his blood begins to eddy again in the excite 50 years ago, he decrees yet that it would take some other 15 years for his true potential to come about, in hopes of assuasive him the gamble to wield both artillery in a fair fight. Gameplay [ ]

Fighting style and abilities [ ]

Story-wise, Oro is one of the most powerful characters in the serial. Much of this power comes from him wielding the arts of Senjutsu, a Chinese originated martial art of mythical and legendary proportions. Through years of practice, he has total mastery over his body and ki, giving him monstrous strength and stamina far surpassing that of many other fighters, even in his old historic period. Oro'due south mastery of Senjutsu has also granted him immortality, telekinesis, and the ability to survive extreme atmospheric and environmental conditions; he is shown riding a plane by simply standing on it equally it flies.

Equally a result of the immense powers he has gained over the decades, Oro has bound 1 arm (his dominant arm, which is his left) through the use of magic while fighting to give the opponent a chance in battle, or else keep things interesting for him; his Super Arts (explained below) testify that he can unbind the arm at any time for various needs, including self defense force and convenience. Oro only seals his arm for competitive fighting. In Street Fighter V, Oro does not bind his arm, rather he devotes one to his pet turtle, challenging himself to go along it balanced while he fights.

Equally revealed in the Street Fighter V side story, Musings on a Still Night, Oro is capable of using the Satsui no Hado, or specifically an simulated of it.[v] [11]

Moveset [ ]

In-game, Oro's is a particularly tricky grapheme to master, equally he lacks the combo power and versatility of other characters. Oro's advantages oftentimes lie in mobility, positioning and timing, including being unpredictable and lulling his foes into misreading his moves, using his double jump to confuse parry timings and dodge attacks. His gameplan revolves around powerful juggle combos starting from his shut medium dial and followed up with his Jinchuu Watari kicks, where he can follow up with many dissimilar combo enders based on his Super Art and meter.

Nichirin Shou is his projectile assault, throwing out an irised aureate brawl of low-cal in any bending. Oni Yanma is an uppercut attack, with Oro leaping up and swinging his open arm to hold out the border of his elbow for impairment. Niou Riki is a throw in which Oro clutches at the opponent'due south neckband and proceed to thrash them on the basis three times in succession with ease. Jinchuu Watari is a boot attack in which Oro leap high into the air, before kicking at the opponent and leaping off of them to the other side of the loonshit, while Hitobashira Nobori is a variation performed in the air that kicks at the opponent multiple times. In compensation for his limited attacks, Oro is also one of the few characters with an easy-to-perform anti-air throw, the Kuuchu Jigokuguruma (lit. Midair Hell Wagon); he grabs the opponent and tucking them into a ball earlier falling onto them with his knee.

In Street Fighter V, Oro maintains many of his original techniques along with some new ones. Tsuranekeashi is a new move where Oro performs a forward kick to his opponent, either hitting them one time or following up with a heel drop. The EX version adds a somersault boot that launches opponents for further damage.. His beginning 5-Skill is Onibi, in which Oro performs a small version of his Yagyou Dama Super Art to control space and pressure the opponent, and his second 5-Skill is the Minomushi where Oro can brand a small jump and lands either an overhead punch or kick to his opponent. His first 5-Trigger is the Manrikitan where he gains access to the Kishin Riki command grab, slamming the opponent on the floor and the Jigoku Guruma air grab, kneeing them into the ground. His Tengu Stone Super Art also becomes his 2nd V-Trigger, extending combos and further increasing his force per unit area. Sure items may randomly appear to offer small buffs, such as a slight increase to his remaining time or an increase in damage. Tengu Stone's EX form returns besides using a downwards input, cut down the remaining amount of fourth dimension in exchange for five items at once.

Overall, Oro'southward moveset has been enhanced to grant him more than orthodox options, such as light confirms and cancellable heavy attacks for more impairment aslope a modified Close Medium Punch that offers similar combos as his Street Fighter III incarnation.

Super Arts [ ]

Kishin Riki is a Super Fine art that displays Oro'southward attainment of superhuman strength. Focusing and unleashing the latent strength hidden within his torso, Oro's punches become unblockable grabs, and he is able to perform more than wrathful throws. Yagyou Dama unleashes a large floating ball of ghostly ki at his opponent, while Tengu Stone levitates various items such as stones, toys, and debris around him to act equally combo extenders.

Truthful to Oro's design, each Super Art also has an "unsealed" grade that tin can be used by presing ii punch buttons instead of one, and often has Oro employ both hands. Kishin Tsui has Oro subdue and capture the opponent earlier tossing them into the air and crash landing them with his caput back onto the earth at mach speed. With Yagyou-Odama, Oro creates an enormous sphere of ki to drib onto the enemy, and Tengu Midareishi grabs more objects with Oro's telekinesis to increase his range of attack by a vast degree.

In Street Fighter V, his Kishin Tsui combines with his Yagyou Oodama to become his Critical Art, Daishinsenriki, putting his turtle on his back before performing the throw assail and summoning a massive ball of energy with both his hands.

    • Oro's peel color and name may also refer to the treasured and fabled Golden Elixir of the methods of Neidan (lit. "Internal Alchemy"), said to be the source of immortality in its lore.
  • In the Street Fighter IV series, the 10th alternate color of Dhalsim's first alternate costume is a homage to Oro. Similarly, Gouken's 8th colour makes him resemble Oro.
  • Oro is one of the iii playable characters in Street Fighter who intentionally handicaps themselves: the other two are Cody, who formerly wore handcuffs despite existence able to easily remove them, and a more subtle example, Akuma who only fights at full power confronting an opponent (similar Oro) he deems worthy.
  • Oro'due south stages sees him fight in Brazil, unremarkably in sparsely populated and rural areas in the day. Correlating with his in-game story, New Generation and Second Affect sees him at home in the Amazon Rainforest, while 3rd Strike sees him at the ports of Santos as he begins his quest to find his ideal successor.
  • Oro's grapheme theme is the song Cave Man, which was at beginning an intense mystical sounding runway, while 2nd Bear upon saw a Dab style rearrangement, giving it a most calm, relaxed and solemn tone from its preceding song. • Canonically, Oro's sleeve is on his left arm while his correct arm is exposed, however for his playable appearance in Street Fighter V, Oro has his sleeve and exposed arm swapped.
  • Oro appears to have no undergarments if 1 is to see his crouching sweep sprites in the Street Fighter III series. Thankfully, this is averted by the time of his appearance in Street Fighter V: Champion Edition.
